The most common question that we get at French Broad Rafting is about places to stay while rafting and sightseeing around Asheville. There are so many options, it truly depends on what you are looking for. Whether it is a hotel, cabins, bed & breakfast or campground the area has a lot to offer. At our website www.frenchbroadrafting.com you will find plenty of options for accommodations. Feel free to give us a call 800-570-7238 if you have any questions. Read the rest of this entry »
Check out these spectacular pictures taken by Tasia with All Terrain Images www.allterrainimages.com. It is amazing that she caught this family of deer swimming in the river. You can see a previous picture of a bear swimming across the river from the previous blog post http://www.frenchbroadrafting.net/news/wildlife-while-rafting-on-the-french-broad-river/
One of the best ways to enjoy the Fall Colors is while rafting down the river. Your are surrounded by all of the color and the beauty of the French Broad River. This Fall has been a busy one. We have had a lot of our guests comment on how floating down the river was a much better experience than sitting in long lines of traffic on popular roadways around Western North Carolina.
It has been raining for the past few days. The water level rose to 2,700 cfs. On Sunday afternoon we got to the put in and the water was flowing great. It was a little brown due to erosion because it rained so much, so quickly. We had a great 5 Mile trip at 2:00 pm. In my raft I had the pleasure of taking Judy, Bobbie, and Adrienne from Chicago and Jodi, Josh, and Sarah from Davie, FL. Sarah and Josh did a great job setting the pace in the front of the raft. We had a great hit at the Ledges a Class III rapid.
It was a great trip, with a great group of paddlers.
The bumper sticker for Summer 2010 has just arrived. Every year we come up with a new bumper sticker. For those of you that rafted with us last year may remember the sticker for Summer 2009.
This year the staff came up with this one:

You never know what you are going to see while rafting down the French Broad River. In all of my years on the French Broad I have seen turkey, deer, wild pig, blue heron and multiple other types of birds while on rafting and play trips. Tasia, one of the photographers from All Terrain Images, www.allterrainimages.com, took some great pictures of a Black Bear swimming across the river.
Book your trip now by calling 800-570-7238 or visiting us at www.frenchbroadrafting.com and enjoy the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
When you are around the Asheville area or rafting on the French Broad river, don’t forget to visit the Hot Springs Resort and Spa. It is a family run business with outdoor Jacuzzi type hot tubs, that are filled with a continuous flow of the 104 degree natural mineral water. It is a BIG HIT with French Broad Rafting river guides and staff. After a day of rafting, paddling, or hiking there is nothing better than relaxing in the hot mineral water. We highly recommend reservations. While making your reservation for your soak,be sure to make your reservation for a massage or body treatment. They offer Swedish, Deep Tissue, or Hot Stone massages. If you have not been to the Hot Springs Spa in the last two years, then you must check out their new store and healing facility.http://www.nchotsprings.com/nc-hot-springs-spa-services.html
If you are looking camping or cabins to stay in the Hot Springs Campground is right across the street from the Spa. The Campground has RV hook ups, tent camping, and camping cabins. While you are at the campground make sure get a bite to eat at “Good Eats” located in the campground store. The owners, Martha and Sachie, make great burritos with only fresh ingredients. My favorite is the breakfast burritio. For lodging check out http://www.nchotsprings.com/nc-hot-springs-resort-lodging.html

Big Brothers Big Sisters works with vulnerable children in the greater High Point area and pairs them up with a positive role model who helps them see a world of opportunity outside of their home, their school and their neighborhood. Children in our program do better than their peers in school and tend to avoid negative behavior.
A successful auction will allow us to continue to serve the 600 children we reach each year, and will allow us to increase our recruitment efforts so the 160 children on our waiting list can be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister sooner.

What a great day on the water. ”It is a perfect Spring Day for white water rafting”. That’s what Stacia said before the 9 Mile trip that she was taking today with her group from Orlando. The group has beenbeen rafting with us every year for the past 5 years. Rain or shine the group always comes in late April. One of the best parts of the trip, according to the students, is the hot lunch at the covered Pavilion. The Pavilion really came in handy today with the steady rainfall.
At French Broad Rafting Expeditions we go rain or shine. We offer complimentary splash gear if you choose to wear it. Why not go rafting in the rain? You get wet anyway.
